The Case of the Disappearing Chromosomes

In Iceland, studies have been performed in order to uncover why some white blood cells in males are missing the Y chromosome. A missing Y chromosome is the most common genetic disorder among these white blood cells, and should these cells duplicate, it could cause things like cancer or diseases. One in five men could have a missing Y chromosome within their white blood cells.
Smoking has been a big factor in whether men are missing a Y chromosome in their cells, however it is unclear whether or not it is socioeconomic factors that are effecting the lacking chromosome or if it is directly smoking itself. The study was important because it shed more direct light onto the direct dangers that smoking can have on a person.
Overall, don't smoke, guys. It isn't good for you.
