In the article "20 Years After Dolly, the Clones Sheep" scientists discuss the technique they used to create Dolly and how they are now refining it so it can be applied to new challenges. It has been 20 years since Dolly the sheep was announced to the world. Dolly was produced by a process called somatic cell nuclear transfer. She demonstrated that adult somatic cells can also be used as parents. Scientists have identified 10 different cells types that have been used and proven successful to be used as "parents" for cloning. Genetics is only one part of the cloning story, the clones are genetically the same however their phenotypes are different. Cloning a winning racehorse does not mean the clone will also be a winner as well. From this article I found out the cloning can be useful but effective when one wants a desired trait expressed. The environment and other factors can still affect the thing being cloned.
